Today the 9th annual Oslo Suscon began with 9 successful suspensions and a veritable cornucopia of cultures from around the world convening once again to share their passions and skills. Post registration, the day was kicked off with an orientation speech by Wings of Desire founder Håvve Fjell. With co-founder Christiane at his side and clipboard in hand, he warmly welcomed practitioners with introductions, stories, and oodles of photos from previous WoD events.
Midday featured guest speaker Emrys Yetz as he presented a wonderfully touching story about founding Rites of Passage. From his very first suspension experience to the direction the group is now going, ten years later, Emrys shared much about himself, his roots and the family he has found in the suspension community.
Dinner brought everyone together to share stories, jokes, and technical chatter over a casual family meal. Then as volunteers washed dishes and made coffee, crew members got to work throwing the first hooks of the weekend. The metaphorical dust was quickly brushed off as the first drop cloths were taped down. While rusty crew members observed, some of the worlds best suspension artists did that which they do best; put smiles on the faces of those fulfilling their dreams of flying. Words can rarely describe the joy and collaboration felt throughout the day and into the evening of any suscon. But as they say, a picture is worth a thousand blogs! So enjoy these little gems and more will be soon to come.
