Well, many of us who keep an eye on Allen Falkner‘s facebook page already had the pleasure of cringing over the pictures of his finger nail after it had been ripped off. Just in case you didn’t get the chance to enjoy with the rest of us, I will be sure to include them here as well. I know several people were asking how it happened. Long story short, Allen took a fall into the stage at a show. When he caught himself, a piece of the stage monitor that was sticking out went between his nail and finger, almost completely detaching the fingernail. After it was all said and done, Allen made the best of a bad situation… he decided to take advantage of the nail being gone by getting a suspension hook tattooed in the nail bed, and of course he took pictures for all of us to enjoy.

Finger Day 1 and Day 14

It took nearly a month for his finger to heal enough to be worked on, and due to the healing skin being uneven, it had to be filed down smooth before the tattoo could be done. And to answer the question that will be asked a million times; Yes, it hurt. The tattoo was done by Mike Tidwell, and according to Allen, tattooing the nail bed felt like he was drilling into the bone.

It may be a tiny tattoo, but I for one am thoroughly impressed. You definitely won’t see me lining up to go through what it took for him to get that tattoo.

There were a few comments made about it being Allen’s left ring finger. I suppose if anyone were going to be married to suspension, he would definitely be a fitting candidate. They have certainly had a long and happy relationship together. So here is the final product. Congratulations on the great tattoo, Allen. I’m sure it won’t be too long until we see a follow up with some healed pictures.
